Awesome Alone Moments

Sometimes in life we get so lost with worries, responsibilities, heartbreak and other stuff that life seems meaningless, and we lose track of what is most important: enjoying each moment, being in peace with yourself.

In moments like these, being alone can be a bit intimidating, your own head keeps thinking about all these bad things and you feel sad.

Recently I was in a moment like this, and a thought that came to my mind quickly changed my perspective.

I realized I was so sad about all this stuff that I was not being able to enjoy my alone time, and I wanted to. So, I decided to have an awesome moment alone.

So I put on some cool music (in my case it was this – maybe you can play it while you read the rest of this), put my phone away, controlled my respiration, looked around, paid attention to the present moment, and then thought what would be something awesome that I could do to have a really good time with myself.

Think about this: normally, in the best moments in life you are with friends, family or loved ones, but did you ever stop to think about all the awesome moments that you had or could have alone? Some cool experience that feels rich and entertaining in the moment and you were the only one to experience it. There is a certain magic to this.

I realized I spent so much time thinking about moments I could have with my friends and family, but not with myself. I felt like I was missing that.

So, if you are going through a tough time, consider this. Maybe you can do things that you liked when you were younger, learn something new (I really enjoy learning interesting new stuff, for me it’s a cool part of life), make some art, or anything else really, it’s up to you.

Do your best to not lose the consciousness in the present moment. Cellphones, computers and other screens make us lose track of time and distract us from feeling present. You can use them if you want (to learn something new for example) but be mindful of where your mind (and respiration) are.

My Awesome Alone Moment today was creating this page. I wanted to share this idea with more people and hopefully have a positive impact on their lives, that would make me happy. Also, this is the first web page I ever make, so I thought it would be fun to learn how to do that and put something online in one day.
